We are Taco Boy—a fun, vibrant, and community-centric taqueria
Our Story
Longing for the ocean-side fish tacos of her youth, Karalee Nielsen Fallert founded the original Taco Boy on Folly Beach in 2006 to bring fresh Mexican-inspired flavors to the Lowcountry. The downtown Charleston location followed in 2009, Summerville, SC, in 2019, and West Asheville in 2022, Biltmore Park in 2023, and LoSo in 2024. Karalee has been a founding partner and co-owner in a dozen restaurant ventures in the Holy City, and is a leading advocate for community projects and women-led initiatives. She’s a positive guiding force behind Taco Boy’s expanding family of taquerias, as well as hospitality group All Good Industries.
Our Purpose
We believe in the power of tacos to nurture people, incite fun, inspire positive change, and build community. With hot tacos, cold margs, and a bevy of other scratch-made Mexican-inspired flavors, we strive to bring people together over food and good times. For us, hospitality is a circle of openhearted kindness, respect, and mutual care. That’s why whether we’re connecting with guests, purveyors, community partners, or each other, we strive to stay curious, listen deeply, work together, and do all things with intention and generosity.
Our People
We look at our business model as an inverted pyramid, meaning all of our servers, cooks, dishwashers, and everyone working in the restaurants and with customers day in and day out are the most important people in our company. And we show our support through benefits like health care, paid time off, family bonding leave, and more. We also offer a Community Chest financial assistance program that assists with unexpected medical and other emergencies. We strive for long-term career growth and upward financial mobility with our growing family of team members. And above all, we have fun!
Giving Back
Since we strive to use the power of tacos to nurture people and build community, we create positive impact in the communities where we live. One of our core beneficiaries is The Green Heart Project in Charleston, which was co-established in 2009 by our founder, Karalee Nielsen Fallert, and uses garden-based experiential learning to educate students and cultivate community through food. We’ve donated over $250,000 to the cause to date! In addition to nutrition and hunger initiatives, we also support education, sustainability, equality, mental health, and other efforts that improve the world around us.
